The cook at Cherokee Park Guest Ranch is a great friend of mine and I wanted to paint her. She posed with an armful of apples and we were cracking up as she endeavored to hold onto the bunch only to have them fall no matter what she did. I could have painted her with the apples. That would have been easy. However, I felt that she should be holding an armful of birds. It has taken my 4 years to get the birds just the way I want them. Whew!

As I started adding all the different birds I began to feel that this was really a statement about the way the mind operates in someone with ADD. So many different, divergent thoughts go unbidden in so many directions that one can cry about it or just go with it and have a good laugh!

I heard later that when she looks at the sky and sees birds that she feels that she is being touched by God... and she is.
