| Beginning
with my thumbnail sketch, I create the abstract bones that are the
skeleton on which the value, color, temperature, focal point, paint
thickness and line will be hung. I tell my students that painting
and drawing are like juggling twenty-five balls of different sizes.
Each must be tossed into the air at just the right time, with the
right intensity to make the whole show a performance to inspire
awe.
For me, time restraints and responsibilities are a consideration.
Alas, a short time is simply not enough. I need a lengthy session
to become my painting. I love each painting and it is me and I own
it. The subject literally incorporates my being, just as I am visually
and emotionally taking it into myself.
It is daunting, this business of being an artist. It requires courage,
tremendous courage to take chances and attempt compositions, colors,
media and myriads of concepts that may work out. Big risks yield
the greatest rewards. I listen carefully when my essence tells me,
"This could be really amazing. No one else has done it. Do
it !"
My artistic valor rarely wavers. Because, after all, I am knowing
how the supreme being felt when she created space, earth, oceans,
animals and people. My art is like that. It becomes a very intimate
experience, the painting becomes another
installment of myself.
Enter my art and enjoy life with me.
